Board rules

These rules are disclosed to clarify the various responsibilities of all community members here on Georgia Saltwater Fishing. They shall be adhered to by everyone to ensure that our board runs smoothly and provides a fun and productive experience for all of our community members and visitors.

  1. General Forum Rules (The Code)

    1. Posts are to be made in the relevant forum

      1. Crew Members are asked to read the forum descriptions before posting. Use the best match, if you go fishing in Costa Rica did you fish inshore or offshore etc...Crew Members consistently posting to the wrong forum may be given a warning and the post moved to the relevant forum. (see policing) #
    2. High fives, Back Slaps, Glad Handing

      1. “Good job!” or “Great!”, “Awesome!”, “Nice work!”. While these comments do make another Crew Member feel warm and fuzzy, they provide little value to the forum content. And as such, may be pruned from the forum when maintenance is performed or as needed. Posts containing only emoticons will also fall under this rule. #
    3. Crew Members should post in a way that is respectful of others

      1. Flaming, stalking, hazing, or otherwise abusing Crew Members in any way will not be tolerated and will lead to a warning. #
    4. Crew Members are asked to not act as “back seat moderators”

      1. If Crew Members note an issue which contravenes something in this policy document they are welcome to bring it to the attention of a Crew Member of the Moderator Team. Please use the “post report” feature to report posts. Do not respond to such topics yourself. Crew Members who constantly “act” as moderators may be warned. #
    5. Crew Members should remember this board is aimed at a general [G] audience

      1. Posting of offensive text, images, video, links, quotes, etc to "inappropriate sites" including those that are "illegal, pornographic, obscene, hateful, harmful, malicious, hostile, threatening, abusive, vulgar, defamatory, profane, or racially, sexually, or ethnically objectionable." will not be tolerated and will lead to immediate warnings and/or outright banishment. #
    6. Crew Members are asked to respect the copyright of other Crew Members, sites, media, etc

      1. Due to legal issues involving copyrights and such, replicating, duplicating i.e. (copy and pasting) or posting content from sites or forums other than CoastalXP without quotations or proper hyperlink reference is not allowed and will be fixed by a member of the MOD Team.

The proper format would consist of quotes and URL links and/or some of the many combinations of BBCode such as seen in the following 2 examples:

        Code: Select all

        [quote][url=http://www.coastalxp.com/forum/rules]examples[/url][/quote]

        Counter notification

        Code: Select all

        [quote]
        [u][b]Counter notification[/b][/u]
        [list]

[*]The administrator of an affected site or the provider of affected content may make a counter notification pursuant to sections 512(g)(2) and (3) of the [url=https://support.google.com/legal/answer/1120734]Digital Millennium Copyright Act[/url]

Crew Members linking to or asking for information on warez, crackz, rip sites, etc. or re-printing material without permission will receive a warning and their post will be removed. #
    7. Crew Members are asked only to post in English, as this is an English speaking community

      1. Welcome to America! #
    8. Crew Members should respect the bandwidth of other Crew Members and sites

      1. The use of inline image tags pointing to data stored on third party systems for which the Crew Member has not received permission to link to may be removed. However, we encourage you to link to offsite image services such as Penterest or Flickr etc. for your posts. #
    9. Crew Members should post in a way which is consistent with "normal English writing"

      1. That is; Crew Members should not post excessive Ebonics, numbers of emoticons, large, small or colored text, etc. Similarly Crew Members should not "SHOUT IN ALL CAPS LIKE THIS" or use excessive punctuation (e.g. !!!!!!! and ????????) in topic titles or posts. Crew Members consistently abusing this rule will be warned. #
    10. Crew Members should use an appropriate, descriptive subject when posting a new topic

      1. Examples of BAD subjects include; "Help me!", "Done!", "I got an idea!", "Shrimp" etc. Examples of GOOD subjects include; "Getting a birds nest every time I use 20 lb braid", "Cannot get my Sushizi 350 4-Stroke to crank when cold", etc. Although nobody will punish you for less, you should basically aim for at least 60 characters in the topic title. For example, "State Recreational Fishing Regulations - Georgia's Coastal ..." #
    11. Spam is not tolerated here under any circumstance

      1. Crew Members posting spam will be warned and their post removed. See specific item on spam and 3rd party linking for more information. #
    12. Crew Members are asked to not disclose any real names, address, or phone numbers, social profiles, etc without consent from said Crew Member

      1. Test the Team on this and you will be relieved of duty; what happens is on you. #
    13. The Moderating, Support and other Teams reserve the right to edit, remove or put on moderation queue any post at any time

      1. Any very first 3 posts may be automatically placed in the moderation queue and will be approved/disapproved according to the present Rules. The determination of what is construed as indecent, vulgar, spam, etc. as noted in these points is up to Team Members and not Crew Members. #
    14. The forum rules where applicable also apply to private messaging

      1. Abuse of the private messaging system may lead to warnings (as above) and/or the revocation of private messaging rights. #
    15. There will be zero political, racial, or religious debate on this site, period

      1. In fact, anything deemed to be, "not on point" i.e. saltwater fishing or related is subject to removal and the Crew Member warned or banned. #
    16. Double posting is not allowed, in one or more than one forum area

      1. Let the beatings begin. #
    17. Affiliate Links

      1. On a trial basis and in an effort to get members to post more "GEORGIA SALTWATER FISHING" topics the team has decided to begin allowing the crew to use their own Amazon Affiliate links in their posts. The basic idea is if you can earn $$$ from your own posts then you will post more often and in order to make more $$$ you will drive more traffic to your posts by whatever means works for you i.e Reddit, Facebook, Twitter etc. Every post can be different but we like to use this one as an example of what you can do with the basic posting tools: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=376 This only applies to crew members and their Amazon Affiliate links. - The Team #
  2. Signatures

    1. Signatures may contain up to five lines of text (of small or normal size) and/or one image

      1. Valid combinations include; a single image of no more than 60px high, 468px wide and 6KiB (6144 Bytes) in size. Signatures containing an image this large may also include one line of small size text. Signatures containing an image of 30px high may include up to three lines of small size text or two lines of normal size text. Images of 15px height or less may allow up to three lines of normal size text or four lines of small size text. Animated images are not allowed. Remote signature images must have a consistently high availability to avoid removal. Limit on image file size prevents detrimental effect on forums page load speed. BLUF: Signature images need to be linked from an offsite url. #
    2. Text sizes should be between 75% and 100% (small and normal)

      1. Text in signatures is subject to the same conditions as posts with respect to decency, warez, emoticons, and so forth. #
    3. Links in signatures are permitted to a maximum of four unique pages or sites

      1. Team Crew Members are allowed additional links to aid in rendering support. Linked sites may be commercial in nature. You may not link to warez, pron, racist or other similar hate sites. Links are included in signature size limits. In addition, there will be no product affiliate links posted in signatures. #
    4. Crew Members abusing these rules will be warned and/or banished.

      1. The beatings will continue until moral improves. #
  3. Avatars

    1. Avatars are required by the software; as such Crew Members are permitted to upload avatar of their own.

      1. Crew Member defined avatars are to be no larger than 120 pixels square, contain no animation, contain no image which attempts to portray the Crew Member as having an official status here (e.g. mimicking ranks or copying avatars of Team Members), may not exceed 12KiB (12288 Bytes) in file size. The limit on image file size prevents detrimental effect on the forums page load speed. See the FAQ page regarding avatars if you need help. #
    2. Avatars are subject to the same conditions as posts with respect to decency, and so forth.

      1. Again with the beatings. #
  4. Policing

    1. This forum operates a three strike policy

      1. Crew Members will be warned a maximum of three times for any and all offenses in a three month period. If the need arises for a fourth warning a temporary ban will be put in place of between 1 to 7 days. #
    2. Arguing with Team Members after having received a warning will lead to an immediate additional warning

      1. Should this exceed three strikes a temporary ban will be put in place as above. #
    3. Parlay: Crew Members who feel they have been unfairly warned are welcome to contact the relevant Team leader

      1. If warned by a moderator you should contact the Moderator Team leader. If they feel you were treated badly they will remove a warning. #
    4. Any attempt to circumvent a temporary ban or other moderator action will lead to a permanent ban of your account(s)

      1. Circumvention includes re-registering or using an already registered account under a non-banned Crew Member name. Other examples include changing IP addresses, using a new email account or other action that can be taken to evade moderator action to hide your identity as the owner of the sanctioned account. #
    5. An exception to the three strike rule

      1. Applies when Crew Members contact Team Members personally (via any method) and post insulting, indecent or vulgar material. Such Crew Members may be subject to an immediate permanent ban. #
    6. Some swab starts chanting sea lore

      1. This is probably one of Poseidons crew and a sure sign the topic has started to turn in the wrong direction; Fair Warning. #
    7. Permanent bans are a last resort

      1. Great thought is given before implementing them. While we may consider lifting permanent bans from time to time this will be a rare occurrence. #
  5. Affiliate

    1. Crew Members, or other persons wishing to advertise on our sites

      1. Contact the WebMaster by way of the Contact page below on the footer bar. #
